Italy

Hey gang,

We have spent the past few days in Italy—one in Venice and two in Rome. Despite bad weather and pigeons Venice was nice. It took us about an hour to figure out which boats to take to our hotel and how to navigate through the streets. It's overwhelming, sure but not impossible. We managed fine. The first thing we did was sit down outside of a nice looking restaurant and order some Italian pasta we had been craving for days. About 2/3 into the meal a pigeon shat all over it and Rach's head. It was pretty bad. The meal was ruined and we rushed back to the hotel to get washed up. From there, it pretty much rained the rest of the time we were in Venice. All in all a fun experience we just wish the weather was better.

Rome has been nice so far. We're just so exhausted from being on the run that the last couple days have been a little more relaxing. We did the Colosseum and Pantheum yesterday and the Vatican today and that's about it. We have a day spa appointment at 10:30 tomorrow morning and will probably just take it easy after that. The trip has been great just not a lot of down time so we plan on just relaxing tomorrow. Below are some pics from the last few days.

Paris

The Notre Dame Cathedral....So beautiful and the detail is impeccable.

Hi all! Sorry it's been so long, we have had problems getting the internet. Paris was amazing! The city is beautiful! We went to the Notre Dame Cathedral, Eiffel Tower, The Lourve, Champs Elysees and Moulin Rouge. The cafe's and food were fabulous!

Barcelona

We have followed Gaudi's work around the city, visited Gothic cathedrals and had Tappas, Tappas and more Tappas. The food is great, lots of bread, cheese and meat. Brett ordered an assorted meat plate and we are pretty sure we ate rabbit. Don't know since our server didn't speak english but whatever it was it was good.
We walked the grounds of the '92 Olympics....breathtaking! The city is more modern than we expected and much different from Madrid. Barcelona is fabulous! Yesterday was a soccer match between Barcelona and Inter-Milan. The city was crazy! People we're walking around singing hours before the game started, everyone was in their soccer shirts supporting the team. We watched the game from a local pub, it was so fun! The whole bar would sing together through-out the game, it was one of the most intense sporting events I've ever been apart of. We wish we had more time here. We have been non-stop the past two days covering as much of the city as we can.
People here seem to be more friendly than Madrid, but Barcelona is also much more touristy. I should have expected that but was surprised.
Have seen some interesting fashion: guys grow your mullets and buy your manbags, everyone has them. Ladies get ready for not only skinny jeans but ones with elastic ankles and waistbands. Also, there must be something we don't know about Spain and shoes. We have never seen so many shoe stores! They are as popular as nail salons and chinese restaurants at home. At least one on every block.
We are having a great time, we have taken almost two hundred pictures already! Needless to say our legs hurt and we are tired but ready for our next adventure tomorrow....La Paris!
Adios!

¡Hola from Madrid!

It's day two in Madrid, around dinner time. So far it has been tapas, beer and a lot of walking. Also a lot of European mullets. I've decided it's my favorite haircut. Our hotel is centrally located and Mardid is pretty easy to get around. I'll say the only problem so far is communication. Turns out I remember very little from Sr. Weibel’s Spanish III class 10 years ago. It's difficult to understand the language but we're managing just fine. The three main food groups seem to be bread, meat (ham and chorizo) and potatoes so we're eating good. Some pics are below. Enjoy. We're off to Barcelona tomorrow. We'll try to post again when we can. Hasta Luego.
